November 2008

Another year is coming to an end. The leaves have changed colors and most have already fallen. It has gotten colder, although we did have a lot of nice days for that last sail. The real sign of the season ending is the parking lots full of boats. I, along with Randy, would like to thank all who helped to get this done. We lifted the last boat on November 5th and that brings our number to 83, which is a very good year for us. We also lifted approximately 20 boats that stored elsewhere.

When you list all of the projects we did at the Club this year and at the end of last year in capital improvements, it is quite amazing: the new roof over the lounge, bringing in the natural gas to allow the upgrade to the new HV/AC system, the new door card readers, the cash registers, and the new stove. All of these items improve our ability to operate and will be enjoyed in the years to come. As always, the majority of the work was performed by members and for that a big thank you for all that assisted.

Next month you will have the opportunity to vote for one of the few that said yes to a nomination to serve on the board. Please attend the December meeting and make your vote count.

On January 17th we will once again host the Commodore’s Ball at the Yacht Club. Plan to attend and show your support and appreciation for all of the members that take the time to make this Club work like it does. Marty Tremble will be honored that evening as he was elected the new life member. Join us in congratulating Marty.
